Push-In: connect the cable without crimping

Unlike a crimp connector, the PV-Stick accepts the stripped conductor directly into an integrated spring contact. There is no separate contact to crimp and no crimping tool is needed: this is not automatic crimping. The cable must still be cut and stripped with a suitable tool.

Simpler, faster assembly with fewer loose parts. The click indicates conductor engagement; its retention must still be checked.

Assembly principle

1. Prepare a photovoltaic cable that meets the installation instructions and strip 15 to 16.5 mm without damaging the strands. Do not fit a wire-end ferrule.
2. Without turning the cap beforehand, insert the conductor straight until it clicks, then check retention with a gentle pull.
3. Then tighten the cap as specified in the installation instructions to secure and seal the cable.

Compatibility and compliance

The PV-Stick has a Type 4 interface with a shape similar to Stäubli MC4 connectors. This resemblance does not constitute certification of compatibility between the two brands.

Its TÜV Rheinland certification according to IEC 62852 does not automatically cover mating with a connector from another manufacturer. Stäubli does not approve mating its MC4 connectors with Weidmüller connectors.

Cross-mating connectors from different brands can cause overheating, loss of sealing or fire. Failure to follow the manufacturers’ instructions may compromise the installation’s compliance and expose the installer to liability in the event of damage.

Use only a Weidmüller counterpart explicitly specified as compatible.

Installation precautions

Installation must be carried out by qualified personnel with the system de-energized and protected against reconnection. Never disconnect under load. The PV-Stick cannot be reused to terminate another cable.
